The Fund for Social Welfare and the Volunteer Office of the Baltimore County Department of Social Services hope that you will want to assist financially disadvantaged families in preparing for school.
For more
than 20 years the Fund, working through the Volunteer Office of the Baltimore
County Department of Social Services, has provided thousands of children with
new supplies for the first day of school.
Last year, nearly 200 donors provided support, either through direct
adoption or through donation of funds, gift cards and/or school supplies, to more
than 900 school-aged children.
For
the 2010-2011 school year, the Volunteer Office is attempting to meet the needs
of individual youth as exactly as possible.
A 10th grader will thereby not get a 1” binder when a 3” one
is required.
Sponsors who do not wish to deliver directly to the family are asked to deliver all donations to the Volunteer Office at the Drumcastle Center by Monday, August 16, 2010. This will allow social workers time to drop off school supplies to the “adopted” student(s) prior to the first day of school.
We are hopeful that you will want to participate. Feel free to post and/or duplicate and distribute this flyer. Please call the Volunteer Office at (410) 853-3024 or email us at dward3@dhr.state.md.us to receive your “adopted” student(s) for Back-to-School.
Thanks for assisting today’s youth in moving forward on the path to a successful adulthood. We hope you are having an enjoyable summer!
