Green Sanctuary Committee

We became certified as a Green Sanctuary in April 2009, by accomplishing twelve action steps to:

-build awareness among TUUC members about societal environmental issues,

-generate commitment for personal and congregational lifestyle changes,

-motivate TUUC members to community action on environmental issues and injustices, and

-build a connection between TUUC members' spiritual practice and environmental consciousness.

Our work is ongoing in these areas, and we welcome input from all TUUC members.

Ethical Eating Pledge

Thanks to all 55 of you who picked up an Ethical Eating Pledge Form at the April 18th service, to take a pledge to eat less meat, buy more local or organic product, or make some other change in your eating/buying habits, that will lighten your impact on the earth and on the workers who produce our food. over the next 40 days. If you didn’t pledge then, it’s not too late!

The Ethical Eating Pledge Form, as well as information on local farmers markets, CSAs, natural food stores, local farms, sustainable fish and much more, is located on the Green Sanctuary page of the TUUC website. Go to www.towsonuuc.org , then to the Committees link, then to the Green Sanctuary Committee page, where all these materials are posted. Print a pledge form and take an action over the next 40 days

If you do take the pledge, please email greensanctuary@towsonuuc.org to let us know your name (we're not collecting your pledge actions). We will be setting up a group email, so folks can share their experiences and ask questions as we go through this 40 day period together.
