Shared Ministry/Gifts Based Ministry
Shared Ministry lives out the UU affirmation of the inherent worth and dignity of every person. As members of TUUC we are invited to serve together in a spirit of mutuality as partners. Working cooperatively we strive to discover, develop, utilize, and support the gifts of each person.
Our congregation provides a fertile and cultivated field in which the uniqueness, preciousness, and power of the divine seed each person brings can send roots into the rich ground of culture, tradition, and community and can unfold from within, reaching outward and upward, actualizing their potential, coming gloriously to flower, and bearing fruit for serving the needs of the world.
Gifts Based Ministry is a program through which members and friends of the congregation have the opportunity to share their gifts and talents at TUUC.
During this process members of the congregation are interviewed and asked to fill out a questionnaire regarding how they wish to be involved in the many activities at the church. The goal is to match up the member or friend who has expressed an interest or talent in one area with that need within the church. By so doing, we are able to fulfill and sustain members of the congregation on a deeper level than is possible by merely asking people to volunteer for a specific job. The growth, commitment, and fulfillment obtained by Gifts Based Ministry fosters a closer bond between the congregation and its members.
