Yuri’s Night: Possibilities For What’s Next In Space Exploration

April 12, 2026 @ 10:30 AM

Rev. Clare L. Petersberger, Kara Tyler, Director of Religious Education, Edgar Allan and the Poe Boys, Sheila Malenski, Chair of Membership, Marianne DeBow, and new members

Sixty-five years ago, tonight, Yuri Gagarin embraced the possibility of space flight and boarded the Vostok 1 spaceship.  Now, on the evening of April 12th, parties are held around the world to promote curiosity about space and what might come next in space exploration to understand the universe and our place in it. This morning, we celebrate Yuri’s Night because it’s the kind of international holiday our world needs now! Edgar Allan and the Poe Boys have selected cosmic songs that will transport you out of this world! If you have space themed attire, please wear it today! We will be welcoming our newest members to our UU universe

I belong to TUUC because it is a church home where I find a community, classes, get-togethers, and events of education and spirituality. It is where my beliefs are respected and we join together in diversity and peace. I love to learn about different religious beliefs, writings, and philosophies without being told what to believe or limited by religious dogma. I like that rather than dogma, there are values and goals that support human dignity, equality, compassion, justice, and respect for nature.
