Our Planet
April 6 and 27, 2025 — One of the projects to come out of the Climate Justice Revival was Our Food, Our Health, Our Planet: a three session talk by Maria McMacken, author of Renew your way of Eating a Flourish in Life. She discussed the importance of eating a plant-based diet for the benefit of your health and the health of our planet.
Participants learned many things including in part: about our basic nutritional needs, about macro and micronutrients and what are the best sources for them in food, about the roles of those nutrients and their role in health and disease, about the effect that resourcing our food has on the health our Earth.
At the end of each talk, attendees participated in a tasting of delicious plant-based foods cooked by fellow congregants. By the end of the three sessions, participants had a bank of at least 20 plant-based recipes they could draw upon as they integrate a plant-based diet into their lives.

The Indian Dinner and Slide Show donation from the Auction was held at TUUC on March 15, 2025. We had a lot of fun talking about travels and international affairs as we ate food Indian food prepared by the Katmandu Kitchen in Towson. Then Marilyn Maze and her grand daughter, Elise Myers, described their experiences traveling in India last year. Many of those watching compared these images to memories of earlier trips and appreciated how much India has to offer a traveler, and how much more comfortable and less emotionally draining traveling in India is today than in the past. — Marilyn Maze
