Gallery Unicorn
Our Mission Statement:
Gallery Unicorn was established in 1975 as a nonprofit entity within the Towson Unitarian Universalist Church (TUUC). The mission of the gallery is to provide a forum to the public at large as well as to church members for exhibiting artwork. Gallery Unicorn serves to visually enrich the meeting room/sanctuary of TUUC with appropriate artistic expressions as well as to provide an opportunity for the community to view, experience, discuss and purchase the art.

Jennifer Kohn Murtha, “The Forgotten Ones”

Jennifer Kohn Murtha is President of the Baltimore Watercolor Society. A portrait painter, Jennifer maintains her studio in bucolic Baltimore County. She has studied with some of Baltimore's best portrait painters, including Ann Didusch Schuler, Elizabeth Byrd Mitchell, Matt Zoll and Palden Hamilton and is a graduate of the storied Schuler School of Fine Art. She paints full-time, both commissioned and non-commissioned portraits and landscapes and has taught numerous workshops for novices to pros alike. The artist also teaches part-time at Community College of Baltimore County, where she uses her classical education to help students to achieve their dreams.
Her work is in collections across the United States, Europe and Africa, plus one painting, a landscape, was bought by HBO for their program Veeps. Hosted at a landmark benefit by The Portrait Society of America and The Zoll Studio, Jennifer was filmed painting a portrait of a breast cancer survivor, for a documentary called The Cure, to be shown at the Cannes Film Festival, Sundance Films and the Academy Awards in 2015. Bottom line, she says: "I was born, I paint."

All Things Bright and Beautiful, a Juried Exhibition in honor of Dorothy Hosmer

Gallery Unicorn is pleased to invite artists whose work can be wall hung to submit to a juried art exhibition in honor of the late Dorothy Hosmer. In April of 2026 we said farewell to Dorothy Hosmer. A longtime member of the Towson Unitarian Universalist Church, Dorothy Addison was born in Liverpool, England and moved to the United States after marrying Howard Hosmer in 1957. After raising three children, at age 60 Dorothy took up watercolor painting. That decision led to 30 years of artistic expression. Dorothy’s art evolved from watercolor realism through a variety of media and forms, and over the years she sold many paintings through the Towson Arts Collective, Harford Artists Association and Rehoboth Art League and won a number of juried awards.
To honor Dorothy Hosmer’s life and work, her family, in conjunction with Gallery Unicorn at the Towson Unitarian Universalist Church, is hosting a juried art show. Submissions on the theme “All Things Bright & Beautiful” will be welcomed. The show will be curated by Gina Kazimir, Dorothy’s daughter-in-law. Gina Kazimir has served as a grant panelist for the Maryland State Arts Council, as a presenter at Maryland Arts Day and has worked as VP Public Affairs at the Corcoran Gallery & School of Art, Executive Director of the Cecil County Arts Society and President of the Community Arts Alliance of Maryland. She studied art history at Rutgers University and holds an advanced certificate from Amhearst College. She and the Hosmer family will serve as the jury for this show.
Entries are due by August 21, 2026 and may be submitted online at the following: https://forms.gle/PXM54n7Sqf4Yex8bA. $5 entry donation fee.
Selected artists will be notified on September 1, 2026; $20 hanging donation fee (see entry form for details). Cash awards to winners ($200-1st, $150-2nd, $100-3rd). Unlimited submissions welcome, 30 pieces will be selected for hanging, limit 2/artist. Original 2-D artwork only, size limited to 36"x36".
Gallery Unicorn is the rotating, year-round display of art on the walls of the sanctuary at Towson Unitarian Universality Church (TUUC), featuring painters, photographers, collage makers and more, both from TUUC and beyond. Works are often for sale. Gallery exhibitions are available for viewing in person during the artist reception or on Sundays, following services, from 11:30am-1pm or by appointment. Gallery Unicorn seeks applications from artists for individual or joint exhibitions at Gallery Unicorn, Towson Unitarian Universalist Church, 1710 Dulaney Valley Road, Lutherville, MD, 21093. Gallery Unicorn is the rotating, year-round display of art on the walls of the sanctuary at Towson Unitarian Universality Church (TUUC), featuring painters, photographers, collage makers and more, both from TUUC and beyond. Artists working in any media that can be wall hung are invited to propose a show. Artists interested in showing their work are required to submit to Gallery Unicorn a completed application.

Download the Artists Application Form here. Work that conveys disrespect toward any race, gender, sexual orientation or creed and work showing nudity is prohibited. We schedule art exhibits throughout the year, with an art reception on the first Sunday of each show. The Gallery Unicorn Committee plans, schedules and executes all art exhibits.
